Pat Strong
Pat Strong never doubted that her career would evolve around the production of art. From her first art class as a senior in high school, she knew she would immerse herself in form and color. Throughout the last 27 years, Pat has been producing and creating art from the world around her.
Pat 'gets' art.
After achieving a BA in Art History with a minor in Painting, Pat honed her skills in design and creative use of material as a museum preparator. She installed and created original art for many of the exhibits at the Museum of New Mexico in Santa Fe. Some of the exhibits she installed are still in use over 25 years later! She also interned at the University of Texas in the Conservation Department of the Texas Memorial Museum. There she refined her technical knowledge of how paints work. She has always been fascinated by the combination of science and art.
In the commercial sphere, designing and installing shops and displays for a major department store, she learned to create faux finishes to refurbish and recycle props for displays. She learned speed and the essentials of focused design from her commercial display work. All roads lead her to start a faux finishing business in 1992.
Pat's enthusiasm, technical expertise and imagination can bring warmth, excitement and most of all humanity to residential and commercial spaces. Early on, she discovered that being flexible and having a broad range of expertise would translate into better jobs for her fledgling company and now her clients can come to her for almost any type of decorative application. Murals, custom paintings on canvas, furniture and cabinets, simple glazing or extravagant wall textures as well as color consultation are all available by calling Pat Strong of Strong Paint.
Painting well is not enough for Pat though. As her business developed she felt there was a pressing need for her expertise to be handed down. With a fellow decorative artist, Lu Goodwin, she founded a new, pending SALI chapter in Austin Texas. As it's first president, Pat has established the principals of cooperation between professional artists, of sharing product information and safe practices, and of public philanthropy through the arts that will provide nourishment to the artists that will follow in the future.
